December 10th 2025 ( 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM )
Originally scheduled for December 5 and rescheduled due to inclement weather, Friends of the Reedy River is holding our ninth Volunteer Work Day at Reedy River Meadow on Wednesday, December 10, from 9 - 11:30 AM!
Please join us to remove invasive plant species to make room for native plants! Our goal is to create a native plant meadow along the Reedy River. We will teach volunteers about the importance of meadows, native plants, riparian buffer zones, and proper identification and removal of invasive plant species - specifically hand-pulling invasive plant species and small saplings.
We will focus on removing invasive Johnson grass by hand and spreading mulch over the pulled areas to stifle weeds. We will help volunteers correctly identify desirable versus undesirable vegetation, making this a great opportunity for all experience levels!
Please come prepared to get dirty -- long pants & closed toe shoes are strongly recommended. Please bring a water bottle, sun protection or rain gear, gardening gloves if you have them, and any other supplies you will need to feel comfortable in a group outdoors, such as a chair or a kneeling pad. All other supplies and tools will be provided.
Thank you for your interest in supporting Friends of the Reedy River! We look forward to seeing you soon!
Volunteers who registered to join on the original event date received an email on 12/4 with a link to confirm or change their RSVP and do not need to register a second time above.
